same thing happened to me but it was iago from Othello by Shakespeare. Best speech in the play but also the most ironic. The villain talks about he who steals his purse is nothing but he who steals his good name steals all. He spent the whole play stealing Othello’s good name and tricking him into killing his loving wife. MythTickle would be a fun place to find Shakespeare’s plays referenced too. And Sherlock Holmes too.

I’m pretty sure that in another phase of my life I’ve seen “elvis” used as a plural or plural possessive of “elf” in some late medieval English or Scottish text. I don’t suppose that anyone with access to the OED would care to look it up?

In the original story the gnomes were naked and to help the gnomes the cobbler made clothes for them.

I don’t know about Elvis, but I know where the ambulance he took his final ride in is. It’s in the dojo where he learned karate, now the tigerman museum.
