^(L to R) Horse #1 is false: the borders are not “open”. Since Biden has basically continued Trump’s border policy, they must also have been open then, huh? Over 1000 apprehensions per day in July. Try to recognize “push factors” (rotten circumstances in their home countries) and “pull factors” (a booming US economy and a shortage of workers, especially unskilled) is simply free market economics, which the right claims to love and not “evil”.

Horse #2 is false: inflation is worldwide. Its bigger cause is the pandemic. Even if you accept that SOME portion of it is related to pandemic relief, there needs to be acknowledgement that that relief very likely prevented a serious recession. You also need to recognize that Trump ALSO signed a stimulus bill. Or are those dollars non-inflationary? Add in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and a worker shortage that mostly exists because of an aging population and some workers finally being able to get paid what their work is worth and THEN you have an explanation for inflation.

Horse #3 is false: different religions regard abortions differently. Are you suggesting those religions are evil? Are you suggesting its evil for a woman (with her doctor) to know what’s best for herself?

Horse #4 is false: Democrats represent real people. They are not “evil”, they just disagree with you politically. Or is freedom of speech/thought abhorrent to you?

Finally, a “prediction”: the cartoonist and his fans, unaware of the irony, will now explain how “divisive” Biden and the Democrats are.

I’m glad the whole ‘ragin cajun’ bit went away with the Clinton era. James Carville is not a good ‘face’ for the Democratic Party.

Isn’t this the same thing that the Republicans have been saying about the Democrats? They misrepresent what the actual positions are and declare that compromise is impossible. But the system was designed for compromise, not destroying the opposition; if we go down the Republican road we’ll look like Russia, where there’s a semblance of free elections but everyone knows who’s in charge.

Someone has his panties in a bunch. :-)

A few points. (1) It’s important to make a distinction between “Things that are evil” and “Things that I disagree with”. If every disagreement becomes a battle between good and evil, there’s no room for the kind of compromise that makes civil life possible. (2) On the other hand, some things that are evil, things about which there should be no compromise. (3) I don’t know much about US border policy, so I won’t say much, except that I really doubt there are open borders, and I suspect that some on the right are using the issue as a scare tactic. Exactly what we are supposed to be afraid of, I’m not sure. People who speak Spanish? Not scary to me. (4) Inflation: a certain low level of inflation is probably not a bad thing. Too much inflation is obviously bad, and I bet you will have to look very hard to find anyone in favor of high inflation. Democrats certainly don’t want high inflation. The current inflation is not limited to just one country, and it’s not clear that the policies of just one country can bring it under control. Even so, what we need are specific policy proposals. And there has to be consideration of the consequences of the proposals. If, for instance, if a measure to control inflation would result in widespread poverty, then maybe that measure isn’t worth it. (5) Abortion: I understand that some people believe that abortion is murder. I don’t and most people don’t. I also think that laws making all or almost all abortion illegal don’t work. Many countries have arrangements that work pretty well. Up here in Canada, there is simply no law about abortion, and as I have said in earlier posts, that seems to work just fine. I recommend that as a solution. (6) I’m no fan of James Carville, and I would be happy never to hear from him again, but I would say he’s annoying rather than evil.

(A) the Democrats as a party have NEVER supported open borders. They may be more welcoming of immigrants, but as Obama said, “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked.”

(B) The Federal government has only a small amount of control on inflation in a global economy. Every developed country is struggling with inflation, this is not an American problem.

Holy crap Varvel try a little truth now and then: 1. We do not have open borders. As someone who has been trying to bring skilled talent into this country I can confirm this. 2. Much of the inflation is due to energy costs which is due three things; increased energy consumption, shutdown of refining capacity during the pandemic, Russia. Other factors include China’s 0 tolerance Covid policy and shipping capacity. None of these are due to any US Government action Democrat or Republican. 3. More 70% of Americans support a woman’s right to choose, Democrats are about 31% of the population. But sure you Republicans go ahead and own this one. 4. Nobody gives a crap about Carville but nice of you to elevate his importance.

James Carville is right again. Poor Garys clock must have stopped.
