wow, a grocery store that offers bags. we have to pay extra for bags the store provides and have been bringing out own totes (called マイバッグ, mai baggu – say it out loud ☺) for years and years now…
long before japan suddenly decided to go green in incremental steps i’d been riding by bike to the supermarket and putting my groceries in a backpack at the register, often having to argue with the cashier about not putting everything in a plastic bag first. how times change…
Hard to remember the last time I saw a paper bag used in a grocery store. As a kid we used paper grocery bags to make book covers for our school books which were given to us each year, for the year. Now, they’re all plastic and cost you…
Brutus is considering what certain people are ignoring. If she puts the groceries into two sacks, then inflation will only increase. During the next visit the same dollars will trade for less, again.
I still have a lot of plastic bags.I give them to my family and friends whenever they need it.i use those to ship out CDs and DVDs.when I go on vacation,I put the bathroom items and snacks in plastic bags.
Supposedly inflation is at 9% but I think groceries have increased by 50% in the last year. Two bags of groceries at Trader Joe’s used to cost about $50. Now one bag cost me $106 last week.
I’ve said this before, but I think it bears repeating. If you can afford to, please donate something—even $5—to food banks. There are families and seniors who are going hungry because of the high grocery prices, and they need help.
I recently retired and it’s not fun trying to make ends meet. My rent has increased over 50% in the last 6 years. The cost of gas is outrageous. I can’t afford to feed my cats because of the increase in the price of pet food. It’s nearly doubled in the past few years. This is not the life I had planned for after retirement!

The celery and cabbage might not make it home in that one bag.

To think what $100 used to buy back in the 1970’s. Now that same amount could put you in the 8 items or less line.

You’ll have to pay extra for the second bag, though.

When I’m in the store with the cart, when the top basket near me is full, I check out… It doesn’t take a whole lot to feed me.

But that cost tens cents more for the extra bag.

Yes I will take the second bag. I sell them on craigslist as retro book cover kits and use the money towards buying my heart medicine.

My wife has been saying that for years. Every time there are fewer items in the bag and they always cost more

With the plastic bags, they use many bags I guess to add the psychological effect.

They switched to plastic bags to give you the illusion that you’re getting more.

Am I the only one to notice the grammatical error? Here ARE your groceries – NOT “Here’s (contraction for here is) your groceries.”
