Clearly Sunny has never been hit in the face with a dodgeball that’s going forty miles an hour.

Anyone who says that hasn’t played dodgeball, or is lying, or a shill for the coach (who doesn’t like the kids in the gym class and is hoping to eliminate a few). Oh, there are a few of us who can’t throw well and never hurt anyone. But, as pschearer remembers the sadists who love the game throw to hurt.

Maybe they play with softer balls than those used at my school. When we played dodgeball, EVERYBODY got hurt.

Great sound effect—really captures the true sound dodgeballs make.

I thought the anti-dodgeball crowd would be out in force.I never cared for it myself.

Back in the late fifties and early sixties we played dodgeball every day in gym class. Don’t think the soft red balls had been invented yet, we used volleyballs at that time. Now those suckers stung.

If the ball hit him in the head, he got hurt. Not sure what Sunny means.

You just need the right coach. If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.

In High School just before the end of the school year I fractured my right thumb playing dodge ball. I tried to catch the ball and my thumb was in the wrong place. The impact knocked off a very small bone chip. However, that was where the tendon attached to the thumb. If it were to move the tendon would be severed and I would not be able to use my thumb. I was placed in a cast from the tips of all 5 fingers to my arm pit for SIX WEEKS during the summer.

I don’t know why, but dodgeball was one of the sports I felt I was pretty good at. Not great, because I didn’t have much of a throw, but pretty good at dodging for a chubby feller.

Back in the long ages past I would often play against a French lad ( I was 11) that could catch the ball from any direction. Throw it at his food, I was out. Throw it at his elbow I was out. Throw it at his knee, 50% chance. 1/2 my size but very fast. We shall overcome, without sports we will never learn to overcome.
