A black-and-white American flag with one line colored in. While other police departments show a thin blue line, in Uvalde it is YELLOW.
They had just completed training two months ago that explicitly stated the first response is to go in and confront the shooter.
The officer who made the decision now makes the cowardly BS excuse that he thought it was a barricade and hostage situation rather than active shooter.
But there were ELEVEN 9-1-1 calls from inside the classroom by six different students reporting that children were still being killed. Gunshots and children’s screams can be heard on the 9-1-1 calls. GUNSHOTS ARE LOUD, especially from an AR-15. Students and teachers in nearby classes could hear the gunshots and children’s screams. Parents outside could hear them.
Surely the officers IN THE HALLWAY JUST OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOMS could hear them. Surely the officers outside could hear them as well.
Some of the children did not die of gunshot wounds, but rather from blood loss. If immediate action had been taken, how many children could have been saved?
There is an old Texas saying that applies to the spineless cowardice of the Uvalde police and the Texas Republican politicians cowering in fear before the NRA: ALL HAT and NO CATTLE.
It was worse than that. Somewhere between rank (well, okay: HIGH ranking) stupidity and personal fear, I think. Though I do note in passing that generally, the police have no duty to protect citizens.
They did not follow police protocols and immediately storm the shooter. They did not even bring their SWAT team to the scene. Police men and women didn’t sign up for hand-to-hand combat but it’s unfortunately become part of the job the past few years.
“Let’s wait a little longer, maye he will run out of ammo” “Let’s wait, maybe he will accidentally shoot himself” “Help is coming, should be here in an hour or so”. “Don’t you guys have traffic tickets to issue, or something?”
This upsets me. But I cannot approach the levels of gut-wrenching sadness and rage of parents whose children were texting from that room while the good guys with guns dithered. I just can’t.
Let us not forget that the real villain here is the shooter. And lets not forget all the people who helped put that gun in his hand by refusing to pass laws that would prevent him from getting it.
It would be one thing if this violence was being worked on to STOP it! But instead, the GOP vote down anything that would hinder their greedy devious ways of GETTING bribe money and vote in favor for MORE POTENTIAL VIOLENCE…
Some one with at least an ounce of sence should take a hard look the departments leadership and hiring practice. (Retired police officer and firearms insructor).
Pretty sure if they can arrest a lone security guard that failed to respond to gun fire in the Parkland School shooting, they should definitely hold these police officers accountable for their failure to act.

Google “NRA gun giveaway” for a good look at what the NRA thinks about the Robb School horror.
They truly are heartless and soulless.

They are taking time out for more thoughts and prayers. Praying that republicans stay in power so that this horror will continue unabated.

Stupid, stupid, toon. NRA has nothing to do with what law enforcement chooses to do. This toon is really out of context.
