    That tree must be an iron tree. They really are hard, when healthy, but are susceptible to a disease that’ll rot them out. They remind me of the story line in the original War of the Worlds.

    Hitting a nail into a tree is a heck of a lot easier than chopping one down. Even with a chainsaw can be hard if wood is wet.

    There’s a coincidence: I briefly watched the movie “Immortals” yesterday and saw Henry Cavill’s character chopping at piece of fallen wood with even less success than we see in today’s strip.
