Having America’s supply of baby formula almost entirely controlled by three or four companies didn’t happen on Biden’s watch, but I wonder who IS responsible?
It might help if the manufacturer had followed FDA guidelines and not been shut down. It’s not as if the guidelines aren’t published and that the FDA didn’t give them the opportunity to address the concerns before they forced the shut down.
AND, since the FDA places a higher bar for foreign import of formula, it essentially gives US-based manufacturers a monopoly on the product. This LITERALLY is only the manufacturer’s fault.
Because of the RECALL, AND SHIPMENT DELAYS, this is the reason…..!!!

The reason for the shortage is about 40 years ago, Congress passed a law requiring states to use competitive bidding for suppliers of baby formula for the WIC subsidy program. States chose the cheapest suppliers, resulting in a few companies controlling all formula. The good news is over the years taxpayers saved millions due to the change…you can see what the downside is.
I thought the “Invisible Hand of the Free Market” was supposed to naturally regulate supply and demand, not be controlled by government overreach as is suggested it should be by this comic. What does big government have to do with supplying goods like “baby formula” on the free market?
As a septuagenarian I don’t often think of baby formula, but I received the following email this morning that a lady in our neighborhood sent to the neighborhood email list:
This morning we had baby formula delivered to our address but under the name of David Alden. I noticed they were not on the list. And consider the baby formula issue I am imagining this is needed. I will call the company that sent it but does anyone know this name?
And the follow-up received later this AM:
I called the company and it was a free sample and coupons. So unless anyone here needs it I will donate it elsewhere

The SCOTUS says there is nothing in the Constitution that babies can have formula therefore all babies must be breastfeed.
