All those Justices who are getting onboard with the anti-choice scuttling of Roe v Wade are on record stating during their confirmation hearings, that they wouldn’t do such a thing.

SCOTUS started losing credibility with Clarence Thomas not recusing himself from cases where he or his wife were involved and with his wife being part of the Jan. 6 insurrectionists. It also lost credibility when the unqualified Brett Kavanaugh was forced onto the court followed by the just as unqualified Amy Coney Barrett also being forced onto the court. The GOP is playing a dangerous game that will either destroy the country or destroy the GOP. I hope it is the latter.

Before Roe v Wade, sisters of two of my classmates died from “appendix complications”. Even though I was only about 11, I heard the whispers that these were botched abortions. So much for the claim of “pro-life” plus let’s talk about “liberty and freedom”.

The next precedent that will go after is Casey versus Planned parenthood so states can ban birth control, ignoring that BC is the BEST way to prevent abortions.

Republicans have reduced SCOTUS to just another RW extremist weapon.

This Court decides cases according to their religious beliefs, then finds some obscure reason for justification. Anything will do, for instance, “it has been there a long time, so it must be ok”.

In their indomitable self-righteousness, conservatives do not consider the consequences of their actions.

Normally I applaud job creation or re-instatement. But in this case Dr Coathanger was supposed to be put out of business once and for all.

“With Liberty and Justice for all White Males With Incomes exceeding Six Figures, Preferably Good Party Members. . . .”

For this Court, “Justice” means “Just Us.”

I’ve never seen a bunch of people being so angry because they can’t keep killing babies (if the decision actually holds, since it isn’t official yet).

The decision puts the abortion laws in the hands of the states. The feds are not in the business of regulating abortion anymore. I don`t see a problem in abolishing Roe. States would have their own laws.

Seven judges raised as Roman Catholic, almost all of whom have spoken at some point about the sanctity of life. Is this really a surprise that five are against abortion? That’s why they were installed.

My thoughtful and loving cousin posted the following this morning and reminded me of the true intent of Roe v. Wade.

    I’m pro-choice & pro-life.

I’m pro-Barbara who found out at her 20 week anatomy scan that the infant she had been so excited to bring into this world had developed without life sustaining organs.

I’m pro-Susan who was sexually assaulted on her way home from work, only to come to the horrific realization that her assailant planted his seed in her when she got a positive pregnancy test result a month later.

I’m pro-Theresa who hemorrhaged due to a placental abruption, causing her parents, spouse, and children to have to make the impossible decision on whether to save her or her unborn child.

I’m pro-little Cathy who had her innocence ripped away from her by someone she should have been able to trust and her 11 year old body isn’t mature enough to bear the consequence of that betrayal.

I’m pro-Melissa who’s working two jobs just to make ends meet and has to choose between bringing another child into poverty or feeding the children she already has because her spouse walked out on her. (Maybe one of those is a minimum wage job at Hobby Lobby, and she can’t afford birth control because her employer went to the Supreme Court to make sure her insurance plan doesn’t cover it.)

I’m pro-Brittany who realizes that she is in no way financially, emotionally, or physically able to raise a child. I’m pro-Emily who went through IVF, ending up with SIX viable implanted eggs requiring selective reduction in order to ensure the safety of her and a SAFE amount of fetuses.

I’m pro-Jessica who is FINALLY getting the strength to get away from her physically abusive spouse only to find out that she is carrying the monster’s child.

I’m pro-Vanessa who went into her confirmation appointment after YEARS of trying to conceive only to hear silence where there should be a heartbeat.

A new (low) bar now exists for the activist judiciary Republicans have lamented for so many decades, who cite “sincere and deeply held beliefs” in decisions.

They can still go lower, believe it or not. They can write into law that the US Constitution is based on the Bible (true, in exactly the same way the US Constitution is based on the Quran/the Vedas and Upanishads/the Tipitaka/the Agamas, etc.: i.e., not in any way a truth claim), legitimizing a Christian theocratic totalitarian dictatorship in the former United States of America.
