We planted a tree that remained a stick with a few dozen pale leaves for a few years. The cat died and we buried it next to the root ball. It is now three times as tall as the house and shades the backyard with its leaves.

“…she’ll be covered in leaves in no time.”

Leaves, and everything else you can find in the yard. BEWARE the neighbor’s dog visits. ;-)

So that’s the secret. Good dirt and little water. That’s why our nursery trees always died, we used evil dirt and tall water!

The solution is easy to figure out; plant another tree, Elly.

Trees need friends to live, that’s why Christmas trees die after December

They should have planted a larger tree. In a few years they could hang a swing in it for April.

April thinks me with leaves. For me I have several trees planted for shade, as for the 4th that is so near that does not last long the shade of trees will. I have them water also by collecting rain water, the trees love it.

This is the last we will see of the poor little tree except maybe in the background a few times.

I don’t have to do anything. Trees just start growing in my yard. they’re not that big for a long time, but I just have to be patient. I left one alone for 30 years and now it’s huge.

Use fish heads. American Indians used them as fertilizer.
