My heart goes out to Kamila Valieva, the latest victim of the Russian athletics factory, who wasn’t able to support the weight of the world that had been placed on her shoulders, left the ice in tears after her final performance, and listened to her disappointing (but still spectacular) score while clutching a stuffed animal. She’s only 15 years old, for crying out loud. And what got replayed over and over? Not her amazing quadruple spin but her 3 falls in the final. Life can be so cruel. I hope she can find some kindness to go along with it.

Apparently, Putin said he was withdrawing troops, but in fact the empty transports were moving AWAY from the border after arriving full…

Something else has bulked up, too; the prices Russia is getting for natural gas – much of which goes to Europe via pipelines through Ukraine. Russia benefits from the fear of war, while the U.S. would benefit (by a rising price for LNG) from actual war, and the destruction of the pipelines. Either way, Europe loses.

Nailed it!! Nothing like destroying a cute, 15 yr. old CHILD in a short skirt to catch the attention of the knuckledraggers and hike the ratings.

    No, they’re just Dopes.

Putin has already defeated himself with this pathetic stunt. He’s doomed if he does, and doomed if he doesn’t.

It seems that Russians can’t help cheating – it’s evidently built into their national psyche…

The really interesting part of this story is that Russia was already on suspension for “doping” – which was the reason Russia was competing under the Olympic" banner and not their own, this year. The “story” was that this little girl “accidently” took some of her grandfather’s heart medication – leading her to test “positive” for drugs – the same drugs that trapped Russia for their original suspension! She was 15 – and both my kids could come up with better, more believable lies when they were 8!

It not so much that Russia got caught cheating, AGAIN – it’s that they are so remarkably BAD at it! If you have to “cheat”, at least “cheat” in such a way that you won’t get caught in such an easily detectible way!

They cheat in the same way that children (and republicans) do – If you’re hiding something “behind your back”, then it’s hidden, right? If “you” can’t see it, then it’s not there, right? When you “cover” your eyes, the whole world disappears, right?

Russia needs to be PERMANTLY banned from Olympic competition – how many times must they be caught cheating before the rest of the world realizes that they will never be able to “play” well with others?
