It’s coming soon and I don’t think that there will be any way to stop it. Hopefully it won’t go nuclear.

I’m predicting that the Russians will declare some parts of Ukraine “autonomous Russian enclaves” and then it won’t be an ATTACK because they’ll be coming in by invitation.

The last time, Putin and company pretended that no Russian soldiers were there, it was all Ukraine people. To {"prove", this hose the families of Russians who were killed did not get survivor’s benefits since there were “No Russian soldiers involved” Anything to back up his claims.

I might be totally off base but I do not think that Russia ever ment to invade Ukraine. I think Putin is playing the same game Henry Kissinger used to play, he wants something and figures this would be the best way to get it.

Remember the Cuban Missile Crisis? Recall how the USSR apparently folded and gave JFK a yuge victory? The USSR pulled their nukes out of Cuba because JFK removed all the US nukes from Turkey. I think Putin is playing for something similar

I wonder how the Russian soldiers on the line see these military activities. Are they selected super patriots that agree with everything Putin is doing? Or are they insulated from the political implications of this situation?

What is their average age? Since it must be obvious that the Ukraine government is not responding as one would normally expect of a nation under potential siege, what do they think is happening or will happen? What is the scuttlebutt they receive? Any cynicism on their part toward all this, or like obedient soldiers are they only “following orders”?

What could be the cost of this whole venture? Is Putin sending them out as “crusaders” to give them something to do so they learn discipline and to get their minds off generally poor economic conditions back home?

If Putin goes through with an incursion it’ll likely be a small one… to be followed by another small one… to be followed…

If even that action is costlier than expected and the body bags are numerous, the Russian people might notice even through the blanket of official obfuscation.

Then Putin may have cause to regret the whole thing. Maybe. it’s happened before.

Given Putin’s logic, Poland should annex Chicago because of all the Polish speaking people living there.

If the Russian tank drivers are anything like their road users the Ukranians got nothing to worry about, they’ll all crash into each other within 50 yards of launch.

Putin has made a major tactical error. He thought that the West was so splintered after his apparatchik Trump worked to destroy our relationship with our allies that his plans could only be met with the weakest of responses.

He didn’t expect Joe Biden (of all people!) to rally the NATO and Baltic nations to unite to resist the threat. Not that anyone is giving him credit for that….but it’s true. Vlad is now between a rock and a hard place. Appeals to Russian nationalism fall short when your economy’s in the toilet and the Big Boss Man wants to obligate more of your taxes to a war that you don’t care about. And the sanctions that the allied countries are willing to inflict are going to be truly painful. But he’s too prideful to turn around and say, “just kidding”.

He’s painted himself into a corner. Now it gets interesting.
