the TrumQublicans want to unite the country too. But they don’t understand that “united” doesn’t mean “Everybody agrees with ME”. And of course, Ramirez is perfectly able to know (and could probably even explain — maybe not to the Qanons — how the NAMES of the parties have remained the same while the AGENDAS of the parties first swapped, and then, in the case of the party now calling itself “Republican” dived into the (muck).

I’ve noticed that not one of the RW cartoonists, on this site, have mentioned the smackdown that Lord Velveeta DOOFENSHMIRTZ was just handed down by the SCOTUS!!! I wonder WHY??!!!

    More half-baked Ramirez pasta.

Of course Ramirez conflates Liberal and Conservative for Republican and Democrat in order to try ans score a cheap point. It falls flat on its face, since the Dixiecrats were courted and joined the Republican Party through Nixon’s Southern Strategy.

Stop this tired trope. There is no resemblance between the political parties today and what they were more than 50 years ago. I mean, the Republicans used to be decent human beings; not any more.

In contrast, former president Blithering Bozo never said it wanted to unite the country, but instead pursued a political strategy of division, anger, hatred, and threats of violence—and still does.

What about mentioning some members of the GOP today, instead of DEMS from years ago. Today’s GOP looks nothing like it did in the past.

When you see Confederate and Nazi flags flying along side trump flags. When you see trump insurrectionists wearing t-shirts with phrases like, “Six million wasn’t enough”, “Camp Auschwitz” and “Better Red Than a Democrat”. You can figure out whom the racists are. “Jews will not replace us”

Hillary was somewhat correct when she said, “You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.” Looks to be more than half.

Republicans are racists and have been the party of racists since the 1960’s. Maybe if they allowed history after the civil war to be taught in schools, people would know this.

Two things, Ramirez. One, go to one of your Klan/Proud Boys/Trump rallies and tell them they are really Democrats. Two, What century are you living in?

In his speech, Biden ASKED a series of QUESTIONS that began with “Do you want to be on the side of…?” When did he CALL any one a racist? Maybe rhetorical overkill, but not quite as divisive as some would suggest.

Joe helped unite the country back in 77, he was part of the Senate Judiciary Committee when it unanimously voted to have Davis’ citizenship restored.

In Ramirez’s BizarroWorld— Lincoln denied freed slaves voting rights and the KKK and Proud Boys voted for Biden. We need to pass out poop bags to clean up Ramirez’s crap littering this forum of informed opinion.

If a reference to Republicans, the first part in true. But, I think of Republicans more as all purpose bigots. The are prejudiced against so many people for so many different reasons just calling them racist is weak in it’s pronouncement.

As for the second part, I won’t presume about what Biden’s motivations are. I would like to think he wants to unite the country, but I don’t know what he actually wants.

That only proves that the Republican party is truly shameless. At least the Democratic Party can look at it’s behavior, admit it’s wrong and change it’s tune.

The Democrats have escaped the Jim Crow attitudes of the past. The Republicans have taken up the Jim Crow attitude and made it their banner. Lincoln is now a RINO to their party.

Ah, yes. Renowned champions of Federalism, who fought the Republican attempts to use States’ Rights as a fig leaf covering racist laws. Wait, Democrats were the States’ Rights champions back then.

Which party insists states should be able to choose who gets to vote today?

Meanwhile, the GOP continues to skate on the reputation of Abraham Lincoln, since it looks better than what they’re offering today. That’s why they fixate on what Democrats used to be (without acknowledging that the modern GOP was born by pulling the DIxiecrats in).

This is their usual a-historical deflection. Those people listed would be Republicans today not Democrats though Republican “historians” try to distort history to make it sound that way. Liars, thieves and bunco artists not politicians nor moralists in any way one can say for the Trumpublican Party of today.

^You speak of the heritage of conservatism in America.

Back in those days, liberals voted for Republicans because Republicans were for social equality.

These days, liberals vote for Democratic candidates because Democrats are for social equality.
