Back in the day, I used to live in a place that was an old drycleaning business. It had one of those clothing conveyors, and we attached a chair to it so we could fly around the house at a flip of a switch. Good times.

A fear of MANGLING would seem to be more reasonable. When I lived in Germany, I was surprised to see that mangles were present in the laundromat.
