The first Christmas my wife and I had with our cat, I was advised to tie a cord from the top of the tree to the curtain rod to keep him from knocking the tree over. I said, “But the tree is over six feet…how could he knock that over?” I was told that even a small cat was able to knock over trees bigger than that. Now, mind you, up to this point, the cat had hardly taken any notice of the tree at all, but just to be on the safe side, I took the advice.
I had just finished tying off the tree, turned around and had taken two steps when TWANGGGG! The cat totally ignored the tree and went straight for the cord. I took down the cord, and from then on, everything was fine. You just never know with a cat…
There was a post on a FB page called Cat Crazy! A family had a new cat and, just to be safe, they didn’t put any ornaments on the bottom third of the tree.

Mittens will leave a gift under the tree.

Corporal Mittens didn’t knock ornaments off the tree. They fell off on their own during the tree’s growth spurt between the first and last panels.

Every cat owner in the world who celebrates Christmas is nodding their heads right now and going, “Yup…yup…”
