School boards have banned the teaching of evolution, mandated the "intelligent design’ idea, banned books, mandated prayers, the list is long and shameful. And school boards, are us.

Clay’s cartoon is based on an actual situation in Texas. A teacher wanted to teach about the Holocaust but a recent Texas law requires that opposing viewpoints for subjects of a historic/political nature be taught. I’m not sure what viewpoint she could have represented to favor Nazi death camps and the deliberate murder of 6 million Jews plus millions of other undesireables (Gypsies, Catholics, those with disabilities, etc.) – ‘Mein Kampf’?

No opinions. No propaganda. No BS. None of that. Simply tell us what it is and what it teaches. A “twenty five words or less” kind of answer but go ahead and use as many words as you like. Just stick to the issue, and stick to the facts. Sources, fact checking, and bias checking are highly recommended.

The Holocaust is a hoax?

When I was in high school, they showed pictures and movies taken by allied soldiers of the camps, people in them and the dead. Those images are burned into my brain forever. Don’t they show those in school anymore? They should.

It’s almost pitiful how dick pest can manage a stunningly witty retort like, “Oh yeah? Well, what are you?” for his best shot. But that Turd Reich troll deserves no pity. Bates starts a chapter with, "’Attacks on school systems often follow a specific pattern,’ Mary Anne Raywid wrote in her 1962 book The Ax-Grinders: Crisis of Our Public Schools. First someone voices a complaint. Others, often spurred by unrelated grievances against the schools, join the protest. Together they demand action from the school board, or bombard newspapers with letters, or both. Then the protesters form an organization to probe the conditiion of local education. By this point the objections have mushroomed, Raywid wrote, ‘to include vague criticisms of “progressive” education,. warnings of subversion in schools, and protests against specific educational methods.’"

I think that it’s interesting to see just what the Texas law says:

“Teachers who choose to discuss current events or widely debated and currently controversial issues of public policy or social affairs shall, to the best of their ability, strive to explore such issues from diverse and contending perspectives without giving deference to any one perspective;
