I would think the supply chain problem was primarily the responsibility of the Secretary of Commerce. The logjam at a pair of major ports, the only part of the immediate problem that’s within the direct responsibility of the DOT, would ordinarily be handled by a lower level official. But Trumpublican hacks are insistent on mocking the gay man involved — whose paternity leave, btw, has already ended. But why quibble over unquestioned facts?
Yes, as a matter of fact, he IS taking paternity leave. What a great idea. I mean it’s almost like he lives in a civilized nation. I note that he’s not 100% away from work though: He’s been facing the TV cameras and responding to the (unfair, likely) jabs from right wingers. Which is most of the top job anyway: We have expert subordinates to do the heavy lifting on details.
The current problem with the supply chain was a over a year in the making and it starts with the sudden demand of goods. How many days were the docks not running at full speed and how many days were those ship waiting for cargo. But, it is easier to just blame the gay man, beside they shouldn’t have babies.
Why do Republicans hate Buttigieg? Because he’s gay? A Democrat? Married? Or do they fear him because he is intelligent, articulate, compassionate, and humane—all qualities they despise?
That’s all tiny minds are capable of….call names, demean, and make fun! That’s all they’ve got! You have got to know this when dealing with them….they want everyone to come down to their level.
The so-called “supply-chain” is the responsibility of the much heralded “private enterprise” and not that of the Federal government. So, maybe it is Al Goodwyn who needs paternity leave?
This is just Al taking his lead from Tucker Carlson. It’s odd to me that average “Joe” Republicans are so eager to follow pampered, inherited wealth types like Carlson and Trump who have no concept of what a work-a-day life is like. Sure, Democrats had their Kennedys but we also have Obama, Biden, Mayor Pete just to name a few. (Also the only thin JFK and Trump had in common was money – and I’m not so sure Trump truly has money that he doesn’t owe to someone – or some country)
Maternity / Paternity leave is a terrific boon to the new parents; the problem is — and I faced this MANY times as a supervisor in a health care setting — someone else on staff has to do your work while you’re on leave, and when a staff is stretched thin, it can become a serious problem. Now in Pete’s case, who’s doing his job? who’s in charge while he’s gone?

Is poor Al having a hissy fit because Pete has some rights granted to other families?

I have to agree with Al, this time. It is time for Butti to return to work and deal with the present interstate crisis.

IMO, Mr. Goodwyn’s bigotry is disgusting and not surprising.

Better yet… maybe old Al just needs to be gone? It would be good.
