The Mad Hatter was based on a real thing. Felt used to make hats was cured using mercury.

Great message today Carol! We all know the carbon footprint of burning coal but often overlook the threat of heavy metal poisoning.

BTW, one has to like the Mad Hatter lobbying for Big Coal as he looks like Tom Petty from the Heartbreakers’ “Don’t Come Around Here No More” video from his Southern Accents album of ’85.

If Carol redid this for 2021, she could replace replace this Mad Hatter with Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia.

Yet another rabbit hole. Mind the rabbits while you’re down there.

Ms. Wilson shouldn’t have been such a glutton, and should learn how to clean and cook a fish properly for consumption.

Those BIG companies and smaller ones too don’t give a rat’s ass about the Earth, they’re makin’ money! And all the pollutants? “out of sight, out of mind.” The world is being poisoned, has been for a long time now and one could say coal is to blame amongst other things.

You don’t need to eat a lot of fish per week. Mercury accumulates in the body (you can’t excrete it), so you just have to eat a lot of fish.

    Feel better now?

Oh, it accumulates in the brain

Hatters were mad because of mercury poisoning (they used mercury compounds to tread felt).

Someone mentioned this in a reply to another comment, but I thought it deserves its own comment.

Got in an online political"discussion" about mercury pollution with a woman who said something like, “I played with mercury all the time when I was a kid.” I avoided the obvious comeback.
