“Politically correct” was invented by those who wanted to make their hatefulness sound brave & daring; “This may not be ‘politically correct’, but (insert hatred & bigotry here)”.
“Woke” was originally used self-denote one who has left hatred & bigotry behind, but was quickly co-opted as an attempted slur, meaning “one who is less hate-filled and bigoted than I”.
I used to hate the term “woke” from a grammarian perspective, but then I realized that I would’ve felt the same way about “broke” when it was new slang.
Ironically on some of the flags of the Nazis were Deutschland Erwachen! for Germany Awake! In this case to the Nazi’s conspiracy story that the Jews run everything even as they don’t have power to protect themselves from street thugs. (Because if it were true then Hitler and his NSDAP would go nowhere.)
Wanting to move away from racism and sexism is Politically Incorrect for the Right Wing in the USA. Talk of leaving the white washed history to the ugly truths of the past they find it evil and invokes Thomas Nast! The Woke have no blinders on they see it all the rights and the wrongs. But saying it and wanting it taught riles the Originals of the Constitution written for them not the other multi-colors of citizens. (They like it when white males of the landed gentry were the only ones who could do anything of importance is starting to erode frightening them terribly.)
