One of the rare moments when Michael is actually trying to get homework done. The best part of it is how he walks away from Elly as she raises her lecture finger. I wonder just how long she continued lecturing before she realized Michael had left the room.

If you want music to help you concentrate on homework, try classical music (e.g. Chopin and Verdi).

Music will help your mood & motivation. But most studies show that it impairs reading comprehension and memory.

I did most of mine either between classes or during the preceding class. Very rarely at home.

What happened to St. Michael’s crowing achievement (the zit on his nose)?

Background noise always helped me study.

My adhd son needs a driving beat to be able to concentrate. Everyone must find their own way. And be accepting of others that do it differently – not wrong – just different.

Studying with stuff going on around you is good preparation for real life. I can “tune out” distractions now. An important skill to develop if you work around high voltage.

Michael should be able to able to better concentrate on his homework. He can stop obsessing over that zit now that it is gone.

Lynn sure is drawing their faces, longer and longer lately.

I did my homework at the kitchen table. Supposedly, it was where Mom could keep an eye on me. I guess it worked. I was paroled from school, eventually. Strangely enough, I am thinking about going to school again(community college) for some classes. Life is weird.

My simple solution was not to do homework! P. S. I always got B- or better on my final exams!

We’ve all experienced the “Pontificating Parent” and the seemingly endless and interminable prattle of, “Blah blah blah your future, blah blah, apply yourself, blah blah, when I was your age…” Did any of it really sink in right away? I imagine most of us rolled our eyes at that moment and secretly hoped they would just stop and let you just be a kid, instead of saddled with their fears, insecurities and vicarious aspirations being projected onto the beleaguered teen.

I did homework with the TV on, and I did just fine. I would let the kid do whatever he wanted study-wise just as long as he turns in assignments on time and gets decent grades.

Anyone besides me hearing Queen’s “We Will Rock You” from the music player?
