Speaking of new seasons. What We Do In The Shadows premieres tonight. BAT!

Now days It’s hard to produce a new series without reproducing an old series.

There’s lots of good new stuff now (and lotsa bad)

Not every streaming service is doing that. Some are only releasing one episode a week. Personally I prefer this as it makes it easy to keep up with everyone else and I don’t have to worry about having something spoiled because I couldn’t binge watch the whole thing right away.

Yes. That’s my same though.

I like being able to see them in succession instead of missing an episode and having no clue what is going on.

Well, Arlo, society has become a bunch of impatient cry babies who demand gratification NOW. Not tomorrow, mind you. NOW!

so when they post new episodes, they are “leaving a dump”?

Problem is….we can watch ‘em way faster than they make ’em. I’m afraid we will run out of interesting stuff to binge on. Some will say that’s already happened.

Sadly the latest scam is to let broadcast TV start a new show and when people whow interest the streamers buy it out and then force you to pay more for the show. A show you already pay for on cable or satellite. So you are forced to pay for 4-6 streamers PLUS cable just for local stuff. Quite the scam. So we use just the Sat and the library.

I have noticed how some will “dump” a lot of new episodes at once, although I think it’s more accurate to say it’s half a season, because there will be another dump in about six months. I don’t particularly like this way, but it is still the same amount of “content”. And BTW, about content; both the number of shows in a season and the number of minutes in each show has been eroding over the years, as well as ads at the bottom of the screen, mucking up the content, which I really don’t like…

that is so we don’t have to pay for ALL the streaming services at once. I can wait until the entire season is available and then watch it all in a week or so, subscribing for one month for whichever service is offering that show

Sort of like British tv. They only do 6-8 episodes per year. One of best had only 69 episodes in 10 years.

How many times are they going to reboot an old series…and they totally ruin it.

It even worse when a season is only 6 episodes as many BBC series are.

I prefer to binge, what’s the difference. My complaint is the only 6 to 10 episode season’s then over year for the next season.

I agree with Arlo about the binge model of streaming TV. Binging may work for those who feel they do not have to time to dedicate to a show each week but binging utterly destroys any kind of word-of-mouth, water cooler conversations and homegrown promotion by audiences. An example: “The Expanse” was originally aired on SyFy (years later, still a stupid name) for 3-seasons before cancellatin. Season 4 of the show was picked up by Amazon but all 10-episodes were made available at once on the platform. Fans stopped talking about the show after 2 weeks. How much momentum was lost by releasing all episodes like that? I think Amazon made the correction for Season 5 but with the announcement that Season 6 would be the last and other issues, the show was effectively dead in the water at that point.

With streaming I watch less series.

It doesn’t mean you have to watch them all at once…
