I’m … concerned that climate refugees could eventually end up as climate war; and that could very well be nuclear war because MAD (which is literally mad) doesn’t apply at all if one nuclear power is ALREADY in the process of being destroyed.

Yeah. I’ve heard of household thermometers breaking because of extreme heat (and cold). But slowly, I think the average human will be less able to read an analog clock.

There is more and more evidence that the Ocean Current systems that regulate Global Temperatures is slowing down, and becoming less efficient. This could lead to major shifts in Global Climates over the long term, but most Cons can’t think past next week, so this doesn’t affect THEM…

Recently Greenland lost enough ice in a short period that the melt water could have covered the entire state of Floriduhh with 2" of water. Dumping that much fresh water into the North Atlantic will screw up the circulation of the currents that keeps the East Coast of America and Northern Europe warm.

Too many damn fools take it that this is something someone else needs to do. “Maybe if country X starts to clean up their act…” or “We should do something but only when we get a sign from God” (uh, floods, fires, and plagues no longer count?). How ‘bout "Well there’s no real scientific proof…" – sure there is but if you don’t like living next to waste dumps, tire fires, and that sort of stuff what makes you think that corporations doing that on a far more massive scale isn’t just as bad an idea? And since we know many types of pollution are bad for people next to its source why is it so hard to believe it isn’t spread globally, and even if you don’t believe it’s bad for climate, why wouldn’t you want to stop it, clean it up, and get rid of it anyway? Why is it so hard to believe that there is so much plastic in oceans and other water sources when we toss out tons of it everyday? Money can’t buy us a new planet and all these storms and fires and loss of forests and species is Mother Nature’s alarm bell going off – it ain’t an alarm clock and you can just keep hitting the snooze button.

Climate change.. has disrupted civilizations since the dawn of time.. There is no reason to think that “our” civilization is immune or that “technology” can thwart it.

Time to buy a rocket ship and escape to Mars! Oh, can’t afford one? How about a bike instead of the huge gas guzzling SUV that won’t even fit in the garage?

There is no global warming. There is no proof whatsoever. Hoping it`s true doesn`t make it true. By the way, Greenland farmed potatoes one thousand years ago. That is a fact. Global warming is a figment of your imagination.

The main cause of global warming is the sun. We haven’t figured out how to fix it yet.

Reducing “mans” heat input will mean shutting off.. air conditioning.. elevators.. airplanes.. cars & trucks.. boats & trains. And we all know that ain’t about to happen.

Everyone is blaming the rise of oceans on melting glaciers.. don’t suppose all the mud washed down from the rivers has much effect.. or does it?

Anthropologist Jared Diamond’s book Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed detailed how half a dozen historical cultures met their ends. And clearly they must have seen it coming, yet did nothing (or too little) to prevent it. But those were isolated groups — on islands, in valleys, in isolated states — and the rest of the planet survived. The same cannot be said about climate change.

Wikipedia also mentions the common factor in most of those collapses: “The root problem in all but one of Diamond’s factors leading to collapse is overpopulation relative to the practicable (as opposed to the ideal theoretical) carrying capacity of the environment. One environmental problem not related to overpopulation is the harmful effect of accidental or intentional introduction of non-native species to a region.”

I get the melting clock, We have had 50 out of the last 60 days go above 100f. We had one day hit 113f one degree below our all time high. This week will see 5 days above the century mark alone with lot’s of drift smoke from the Dixie Fire. This is my 23rd Summer in the Cali Gold Country and the hottest by far.

Would be nice if all nations united to fight global warming, and that pushed back the nuclear doomsday clock… but there are too many who resist both efforts.
