Money for landlords was included in the original covid relief bill. Much of it still remains untouched. It’s just a matter of getting it to the landlords.
Wait a minute. You mean to say there are “Black” landlords? How knew? And, remind me again, where in the “Bill of Rights” does it forbid land lords form be put in jail, if they commit a crime?
Biden issued a blatantly unconstitutional decree that renters all across America don’t have to pay rent. If landlords try to evict tenants for not paying rent, they could face criminal penalties including fines and imprisonment.
the U.S. Supreme Court in ruled in June that the CDC has no legal authority to do this. Biden knows this action is unconstitutional, as does everyone in his administration, including Gene Sperling, who oversees the Biden administration’s rollout of COVID-19 relief. He told reporters that the president “has not only kicked the tires; he has double, triple, quadruple checked” the legality of an eviction ban, but the CDC told Biden it was “unable to find the legal authority for even new, targeted eviction moratoriums.”
The sock puppet basically just took a dump on the US Constitution that he took an oath to uphold.
I see all the right wing cartoonist got their marching orders to write about Pres. Biden’s orders to halt evictions. As I read from Benson to Varvel they’ve gotten progressively stupider, which is quite an accomplishment given the cartoonists involved.
So, I pose this question: Does Mr. Varvel think throwing millions of famillies out on the street a better solution? What does he propose?
Some may be there for double dipping. Accepting government funds to keep people current on their rent, then trying to extort more money out of the renters.
No in fact. They’re being PAID (all they have to do is cope with their states’ systems) by the government to allow their tenants to stay. And oh yeah, that means they may not evict them for non-payment. They absolutely CAN evict them for other breaches of contract or law… though you can bet the ones who need to be thus evicted will cry “foul”.
I tried playing Monopoly the other day, but everytime someone landed on my property, instead of collecting rent I’d go to jail, directly to jail, without passing Go or collecting anything.
Where did it say that tenants don’t have to pay rent? I read about no evictions. But the landlords are welcome to go to small claims court and get garnishments. They just can’t get an eviction for now. (And why aren’t the states disbursing the money the feds gave them to compensate landlords for lost rental income?)

It is a moratorium on courts enforcing eviction orders. That does not mean putting landlords in jail.

A reference to a 60-year-old TV show. Real cutting edge there, Varvel.

Did the landlords get federal money to offset their loss of rent revenue and the expenses to maintain their property and utilities?

Of course, the fact that landlords are not being jailed for charging rent has no bearing on the alt-rights’ view of reality…
