(sigh). The anti-vaxxers are going to be all over this as proof, PROOF that it’s all a Demoncrat scam to steal people’s rights. As for me, I’m still wearing a mask when inside among folk who are probably only about 50% vaccinated (and under 40% fully vaxxed).
People are saying that they are afraid to take the vaccine because they don’t know what’s in it. It’s the best preventative for a very contagious virus that will make you ill and possibly kill you. That’s what’s in it. Not looking out for your own health and your loved ones is beyond selfish and stupid.
I never took mine off. Never got a common cold last year. And you can mouth things under your mask, like: “You left the house wearing that!?”. So much fun.
Per usual…..the virus is out of hand…again, ..they waited to long, they opened up too early….mandates not suggestions….this will hang on forever if there’s no MANDATES! The anti vaxers, are the ones who are causing this and the vaccinated are the ones being tortured by staying in or away. Should be the other way around! Businesses need to MANDATE masks and shots or you’re out!

This has to end…people can’t live like this anymore.
I’ve never really stopped masking in inclosed settings. Although I’ve been fully vaxxed since February, I’ve kept the mask on to guard against the variants.
I think we released the brakes way too soon. When the vaccines were approved, too many felt “problem solved” and tossed even the most reasonable precautions to the wind. But that assumption was based on people getting vaccinated. Since a significant number have chosen not to be vaccinated, we’re going backwards.
Yes. We thought we were done, but we just haven’t been able to get enough people vaccinated.
More precisely, the advice is that in regions with substantial transmission (defined as 50 cases per 100,000 population) or high transmission (100 cases per 100,000), CDC is advising people to wear masks indoors. They are not mandating anything, but a lot of organizations do base their decisions on CDC guidance, so this is likely to cause many businesses and local governments to resume requiring indoor mask wearing.
So yeah. Pick that torn-part sign out of the recycle bin and tape it back together. We still need it in some parts of the country. Not where I am; my county has had a good rate of vaccination, and the most recent published data for my county (July 10) shows a case rate of 19 per 100,000. But I’m sure going to be monitoring those numbers.
I’m fully vaccinated and I reached efficacy April 15 and yet I’m faced with the possibility of needing a booster shot and having to wear my mask again because of the knuckle draggers who refuse to get vaccinated.
From what I’ve heard that the masking up is largely in the states where the Delta variant is surging the fastest (i.e. the least vaccinated states). Here in DC, I am still carrying my mask with me and putting it on when I go into a store or my bank. The good news is that in those surging states, the vaccination rates have gone well above the national average. Guess it took seeing their unvaxxed friends and family members falling ill from Covid. But whatever it takes, I guess. Hopefully this means the Delta variant will peak and recede soon like it has in India and the UK. For me, masking up when I’m inside an indoor public place is a minor hassle at best. This too shall pass.
The Pfizer vax I got is 95% effective NOT 100%. Considering how highly contagious Delta is, the CDC is doing the right thing given all anti-vax people in my area. I also expect to get a booster shot as soon as one is available.
The problem here is all the idiots that do not want to be vaccinated and the solution is simple. If you are not vaccinated then, you should not be allowed To go to sporting events, the theater, movies (yes there is a difference between the theater and movies), grocery stores, restaurants, the local 7-11 type stores, school, local and state fairs, camping, etc.!

In my area, some signs still say “masks required” while other stores show “masks recommended.”

I wonder how many people are having to buy masks now because they threw theirs away, thinking that everything was all right.

Really too soon to drop masks. Why is the CDC thinking about people being tired of wearing the masks instead of what will protect them first?
