Sad but True. No Musician has ever gotten a “Good Deal” from a record company.
It’s been like that ever since the days when a Music Publisher could sue Stephen Foster for playing his own music.
The publisher claimed that They owned all of Foster’s songs and demanded that He Pay Them for permission to perform.
What the Publisher had done was Pay someone to stalk Foster and transcribe all his songs for them. They then Published them and claimed that gave the Publisher Ownership.
