The first Quaker to stand up at the meeting & say that buying & selling people is wrong, did not win the day, but he won the history. Some scholar somewhere may even know his name, but that’s not really important. The point is; get better.

There’s a very nice beach peninsular in Washington State in Puget sound called “Point no Point”

It’s a wonderfully relaxing place where my wife and I go to relax!

Is Stantis trying to increase the suicide rate or mass shootings? He sure isn’t doing much to give hope to anyone trying to cope and hang on to some sanity.

(I am going to twist the lyrics just a bit to suit my needs)

Party, I know you’re askin’ me to stay

Say “Please, please, please don’t go away”

You say I’m givin’ you the blues

Maybe you mean every word you say

Can’t help but think of yesterday

And I know all the games you play because they played them, too

    It’s all about soul

It’s all about faith and a deeper devotion

    It’s all about soul

’Cause under the love is a stronger emotion.

    She’s got to be strong

’Cause so many things getting out of control

    Should drive her away

    So why does she stay?

    It’s all about soul

    Billy Joel

I remember a story of a pedestrian passing a construction site. He asked a glazier what he was doing. “What? Are you stupid,” the worker snarled. “I’m setting in a window.” The pedestrian apologized for disturbing him and walked on to where another man was working and asked the same question. “What’s it look like? I’m layin’ brick,” the mason replied tersely. The pedestrian again apologized and walked on to where a man was mixing mortar and repeated his question. The worker paused and straightened up and looked at the work going on around him. With a beatific smile, he replied, “Sir, I am building a Cathedral.” I suppose “The Point of it all” is, in the end, what you make it.

The capacities for “Faith” and “Purpose” may be hardwired into our brains as survival strategies. That different people have “Faith” in different things and “Purposes” to different ends suggests that there is no single “Truth” to which we are being led, but if two monkeys are fighting over a banana and the first monkey is merely hungry while the second monkey believes it’s his DESTINY to have the banana, my money’s on the second monkey.

Faith by definition is believing in something when you have no reason to. It’s the “virtue” of idiots and slaves, pushed by con artists.

    “It’s about time

    It’s about space

About strange people in the strangest place

    They will be here

    With all of us

    Dodging a taxi, a car, a bus.

    Where will they go

    What will they do

In this strange place where everything is new.

    Will they manage to survive

    Watch each week and see.

Will they get accustomed to the Twentieth Century."

Pure faith unadulterated by proof is the panacea for many humans, fits in with hope.

Give me solid goals over baseless hope.
