OK, that’s kind of cute. Which puts it in the top 0.5% of all his political comics.

    Alt-reality dreams versus real life?

" … While playing sports is fun, it’s hard not to think about making it to the pros one day… That being said, the road to becoming a professional athlete certainly ain’t easy. The chances of going pro aren’t in your favor. It’s something only 1% of the top 1% achieve.

    Actually, it’s even less. …"

Not far from the truth. Our local Frisch’s restaurant is offering $13/hour to start and a bonus of $250 if you work an entire month, plus weekly paychecks instead of every other week. Amazon air hub, about 20 miles away, is starting people at $19/hour plus benefits and guaranteed bathroom breaks, to counter the bad publicity.

Bonuses.. management’s way of keeping wages low. A classic.. “a bird in your hand is worth two in the bush”.

Sure seems like that’s what a college degree gets you these days. Sign a big deal with Denny’s. Thanks Liberal Academics.

Republicans want a proper working class kept poor and involuntarily taking jobs for sub-poverty wages. If this goes on much longer, the poor might think they are entitled to be treated better than slaves. The horror!!

Just waiting until automation replaces many of these service positions and then this “nonsense” about a living wage will go away.

“Inked” a New Deal ? Sounds like a tattoo of FDR’s program during the Great Depression of the 1930’s and Hooverville’s.

Apparently SKelley does not like capitalism and the Law of Supply and Demand. What happens to the cost of a scarce resource, SKelley?

Income for ALL social classes has gone down, except for the wealthy.

We need Solidarity. We won’t work until you pay us a decent living wage.

I know. A multi-year deal worth $15/hr. is just crazy as CEOs of corporations like Dennys, McDonalds, Walmart, etc. get multi-million dollar pay raises for successfully keeping employee wages as low as possible and stock buyback profits as high as possible.

The numbers I saw for Denny’s for a cook was about $11. The mandated minimum for tipped employees is $2.13 but I would think that they might go higher for a multi-year “commitment”. The bonuses were $300 for an assistant manager so waiters would get less.

As far as the “commitment” is concerned, I’d make sure to read the fine print to see which party has more requirements.

Finally, food service workers have the upper hand in negotiation with their employers. ;-) And some restaurants are realizing this means they can’t treat them as disposable anymore.
