Phil, there’s a difference between investing in the country to not only repair decades of neglect, but to actually make the US competitive on the world market again as opposed to tax giveaways to corporations and billionaires that explode the deficit for no reason at all.
“Future Generations” will have the benefit of inheriting the improved infrastructure that Biden is trying to build. Or they could save a few bucks and continue the slide into being the newest 3rd world country.
Yeah, sooo terrible that Biden wants to spend money on infrastructure and people who lost jobs due to the pandemic… he should be spending it on golf excursions to Trump properties…
Some companies who get the contracts and their employees who do the work will have to pay more in taxes to help pay for the projects and they will buy stuff which increases the incomes of others who will pay more in taxes and buy also – and so it goes.
It’s a tired cliched soundbite; reality is our budget deficits have not burdened future generations. In the past this has largely been due to increased productivity – it is even less of a problem today with negative interest rates. I’m not a fan of big deficits, but I’m less of a fan of the economically clueless.
old Phil’s pony tail is pulled too tight and/or the sun has been boilin’ his brain. there are so few recent time that the following generation are left to handle a deficite..mostly thanks to politico like mitch and the new millenial robber barons
Republicans to not want to make people today pay the bills. Pres. Clinton had in place plans to pay down the debt over ten years, and Shrub destroyed that with unneeded tax cuts. Then when their programs hurt the economy, they tried tax cuts over and over again until the economy collapsed.
The money given to people will go to businesses and will stimulate the economy. Infrastructure repair will create jobs that pay well and will create taxed income. The ultra rich just sit on any money they get, which stimulates nothing.
I mean every politician has put past and current fiscal burdens on future generations; whether it’s Republican Trickle Down Economics, corporate tax cuts, and huge military spending or it’s Democratic huge social programs, infrastructure projects, and huge military spending. Wars have been a huge bipartisan burden on future generations.
Past infrastructure plans gave us railroads, electric lights, highway systems, now broadband. It’s way past time to do some remodeling and updating before the whole country crumbles.
You missed the mark on this one, Phil Hands. Having the rich pay their fair share puts money in the pot. Stop making it seem as though Biden doesn’t care about the younger generations.
Phil, you do not actually understand deficit spending or government spending. You know, Biden could make it a top priority to eliminate the national debt, but that would mean reversing all the tax breaks given to the Wealthy Elite by trump, Georgie Bush, Clinton, and Ronald Reagan. Is that what you want? Will you support those measures?
Right wingers always blame Dems for the deficits that THE GOP CAUSES! Classic case of projection. Biden’s plan includes a small tax increase on only income greater than $400K/year which has been calculated to completely pay for this program. Which deficits again?
General George S. Patton Jr. once remarked that any congressman who voted FOR a bill and then voted against the tax increase (or abstained) to fund the bill should be thrown out of office.
And here’s a surprise Phil, he’ll be using what he pays for as he eats it. Never borrowed money for infrastructure yourself? Always paid cash for everything? House, car, renovations?
Not funny, Phil. You are trading in the same lie the GQP has been perpetuating since Herbert Hoover. You have to know this toon is a lie. Otherwise you too stupid to be qualified to vote.

If people were truly concerned about “future generations”, they’d be doing something about global warming.

Where was the outrage when the Trumpublicans were running up the deficit giving money to the rich?

At least when Democrats spend money, they invest it in the country.
When the GQP spends money, they only send it to the offshore accounts of CEOs.

If you had any understanding of economics you would know this is a false argument. There will be no paying back of the debt!

Phil, could you maybe dredge up some of your cartoons you made for the invasion of Iraq?
Do you possibly remember how nobody had to pay for it?

Not to mention, Phil, that paying for it is built into the proposed legislation.
Didja just overlook that little detail, or are you LYING?

We already have debt. We need infrastructure whether you like it or not. And, as the recent cyberattack proved, we need cybersecurity.

You get nothing for the record deficit the loser republicans rang up during the Trump years which you still have to pay for.

Oh, please, not the “kick the can” down the road nonsense.
Our government is eternal. We should be making plans and budgets for decades in the future, centuries. Not this thin, weak cowardice the Right pushes.
