Nice format this way! I do have a question. I suppose you sent in the dailies in batches: was that once a week? Or was the system such that the syndicate only had to have an advance of at least a month?

What happens if any of those strips were rejected? Of course that would have never happen to you.

I wonder if a cartoonist ever had his comics lost or damaged in the mail

    What would the syndicate do?

Kerosene is misspelled. I guess if they edited the strips, they didn’t check for spelling errors. (Can you tell I am a pain-in-the-butt English major?).

Hi Lennie, thanks for making these reruns happen! I’m here everyday, even though I don’t comment. I’m not as clever or stupid as some commenters. Lol

17×8 paper? How long was/is has that been around? Not an off the shelf item I imagine.

Lennie – interesting to learn the behind the scenes of a comic strip. I work one week in advance for a paper and most times to the deadline. I can’t imagine a moth ahead of time.

I had to get a new phone last week. Mine was gasp 4 years old (I’m team android). The young lady helping me was extremely nice, as was the other fellow in the store. As I was commenting on new technology, I said “hey, I haven’t bought my first Walkman yet!” The young lady said “what’s a Walkman”…I said “you could listen to the radio or play cassettes on it”, she said “what’s a cassette”. GAAAAA!!!!!

I remember being able to watch Charles Schulz draw his comics. he had a big office with a glass front and anyone was welcome to walk by and observe. Many of his original drawings are available to see in his museum in Santa Rosa. Are you saying that cartoonists no longer do inked drawings on paper but do everything in the computer?

Thanks so much for the mention, Lennie! I’m honored — my own university! Makes up for being an adjunct for over 20 years!

The more time passes, the more you, as in Lennie, shows that you are multitalented and in this particular situation, the comics, you are one of the most innovative producers around.

As I said before: I wish u all the best. (I am following both your pages on Facebook, please let us know what is happening with you and your kitty: Homeslice. )
