   To quote the very 1st sentence of Jane Austin’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’: “It is a truth universally acknowledged…” then I will add my own ‘truth’. So, instead of talking about ‘single men who are in possession of good fortune’, I will talk about birds. So, to continue what Ms. Austin started in her masterpiece: … that birds will do their business targeting cars in a rate proportional to the value of the car. See, they, as in the birds, will target, per capita, say, a Toyota Corolla with a lower rate than they would target a Ferrari. If you do not believe me, then get 100 Corollas and one Ferrari near some known pigeon hangouts. I bet you the discerning pigeons will go after the Ferrari, leaving the Corollas alone.

   Given that ‘universal truth’, I think Lennie should be happier than other comic strip artists.

   Great move, Lennie! Makes your fans happy, and happy fans makes smart business sense. Add the indisputable fact that you product, in this case the comic strip itself, is one of the best all around (I liken it to ‘Seinfeld’ or ‘Curb your enthusiasm ‘), and you, and your readers, including yours truly, get a win win win situation.

   When I was young, the only presents my father would permit were BOOKS. Any cash presents from relatives were used, under the supervision of my father, to buy BOOKS. That applied to me and all my 3 brothers.

   Fast-forward: all four of us ended getting PhDs from MIT. School of Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, and Chemical Engineering.

   Somewhere there are some lessons to be learned here. :-)

   Want to make a side $$ and make any of your fans happy at same time?

   Simple: produce two coffee mugs, one with a drawing of Ginger’s d another with a drawing of Homeslice. Or, if you want Justine mug of each kitty on different side. Or both kitties playing together on one side and ‘The BigPicture’ on the other.

   I am sure you will more than break even, while making many of your fans very happy every time they drink coffee.
