I played golf once and Jim McMahon (Super bowl winning quarterback with the Chicago Bears) was in the group behind us. They caught up to us on a Par 3. He had flip flops with cleats on the bottom. True story.
I spend so much time in the sand traps that I should buy a time share in there. At least then I would probably avoid them more vigorously, if not successfully.

I had a brother-in-law who spent so much time in the sand traps that we started calling him Lawrence of Arabia.
