This little dust-up over the unsolicited decision by the estate of the author to no longer publish a few of his old books because the estate no longer finds them appropriate is just another example of the radical right trying to get people outraged over stupid stuff rather than the real issues. It’s a great way, for example, to distract people from their failure at protecting the lives of their people either from pandemic or weather. The radical right fails in protecting people, it fails in economy, it fails in infrastructure and it fails in justice. But it can get you outraged over Dr. Seuss, Merry Christmas, or that Potato Head.
Much ado about nothing. I wonder if this cartoonist would feel comfortable publishing a cartoon with black and oriental characters portrayed the way Dr. Seuss portrayed them in the books his estate has voluntarily decided to no longer publish?
I would think that the Trumpublicans would be quite envious of a genius marketing scheme like publicly announcing that five of Dr. Seuss’s books would no longer be sold because of socially problematic themes and surfing the inevitable rise in interest to sell a crap-ton of books.
17 of the top 20 best selling children’s books on Amazon right now are Dr. Seuss books.
And they would never have been so successful if it hadn’t been for idiotic knee-jerk Trumpublicans desperate for something to distract the populace with. A response that was so inevitable and predictable.
It was the Seuss company who banned their books as a good example.
Culture canceling lying partisan devisive republicans are trying to blame it on the left. Republicans tried to cancel the american election while screaming ‘stop the steal!’
Did you know the republicans are doing everything they can to delay the Covid Relief Bill? Millionaire Republican Senators hate American workers and will do everything they can to stop the raise of the minimum wage also.
Republicans elected rapist murderer liar Trump to be their leader.
They are constantly angry about stuff they made up, its clear the right wing is totally mental.
Okay Karen, the chickens are open pen with clipped wings to keep them from flying. Eggs are from the coop or wherever they laid them. (see lady, it’s a children’s tale. Unlike you it is not full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.)
Jaypem: Rags’ fearful hatred of Trump (and mine) is a consequence of his careful observations of reality over the past 4 years and his sound reasoning.
Newsflash: Democrats did not censor Dr. Seuss. The private company that owns this intellectual property made the decision, as is their legal right. Where will the RepubliCON lying and projecting all end?

If the eggs are green, they haven’t been refrigerated, and I wouldn’t eat them, even with ham.

Ok Karen. You right wingers appear to be mentally diseased.

OK, then. When this book was written (the 1930s) that concept did not exist. The chicken just wandered around wherever they wanted.

Trump is supporting the Constitution…perhaps you should read it through before making ignorant comments.

You need to specify what part of the eggs are green. If it is just the shells, the eggs might be just fine… if the innards are green, they’re rotten…

Give the (bookstore) clerk a break. He hasn’t seen the receipt for the cages, so he has no way of knowing if they were free.
