Yeah, hang dead fish, old meat, carcasses, etc. That will attract THOSE sorts of birds. :P

We had a hawk grab a cardinal near our feeder and stood right in front of our St. Francis statue to eat it! Then later I saw another eating a pigeon. I gave up on trying to stop the squirrels, I just got another feeder for them and put peanuts in it.

I found a dead rabbit laying by a dirt trail on my morning walk

No obvious injury and it wasn’t a place where motor vehicles go

I wondered if a large bird got it and accidentally dropped it

I feed the hawks sunflower seeds. I run them through the squirrels first.

We have a great horned owl, but squirrels aren’t out when he hunts. He does, however, take Asian doves off their roosts in our blue spruce trees… for which we are grateful.

But they also eat the neighbor’s pets.
