“Me Tarzan, you Jane." is a famous misquote. Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan did not say it in any of the Tarzan movies or was the line in any of the original Tarzan stories or books written by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

My 2 year-old granddaughter still gets up in middle of the night. My two boys never did except when they were sick. They started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks. I was lucky. I told my older son I wouldn’t have his daughter overnight until she stops getting up in middle of the night.

Imagine that, Elly actually thought about Liz in all of this. It’s not too late to move her crib to another part of the house, guys.

they have sleepless nites, same as we have. it is not a permanent state. And as long they have no pains, it was ok. Looking back I miss that time a lot. because missing the nite also meant a nice nap in the afternoon together on the sofa. years ago a friend told me to spoil the kids as long as you can – and I tried that and it was the best idea ever. BTW: I don’t mean money, I mean taking time and doing little things: having a little ice cream, going swimming or cooking special dishes or driving them to school when the weather is really bad. Today I can count on them too for little favours ;)

When my best friend’s child was about this age, she refused to go to sleep unless one of her parents laid next to the cot. This eventually morphed to one of them putting their head on the pillow next to her. I held my tongue, but thought that perhaps the child was protesting a touch too much and they might have done well to just read the story, do the snuggles, put on the music box, and say good night. But I’m child-free by choice so what do I know?

I was thinking a bit more of Dances with Wolves, there, It doesn’t really matter how you talk when the listener doesn’t want to hear any of it.

I never talked bady talk to my kids or grandkids. You do that and then you have to teach them proper enunciation when they are older. Just do it once.

That baby talk can take you out of the slumber. Miss those moments of my kids.

My son had to get up at 3 a.m. with their 9-month-old son the other day. All the kid wanted to do was play. They have no concept of day or night, and what people want to do during each. All I could think was how much he deserved this.

My oldest son had to be entertained constantly. I didn’t get a lot of sleep when he was in that stage. My youngest son would wake up during the night occasionally and just lay there looking at his mobile. We had a cat at the time that would sleep on the bed with the oldest. When the youngest woke up, since he didn’t cry and wake me up, the cat would come tap me on the shoulder to get me up. They were totally opposite personalities.
