Snow is new and interesting the first day. Second day, not so much, even in central VA where we can go years without seeing any. And naturally, that means driving on snow or ice has to be newly learned each time, to the detriment of public safety, the increase in accident insurance, and the benefit of auto repair shops. It’s nature’s way of reminding us that there are other things to worry about in the world.
We are bracing for our second ice storm in less than a week. In the last one, we were without power for 30 hours.
I was out walking yesterday morning. Almost all of the roads were clear; there were not downed branches or limbs. Then about every quarter of a mile it looked like someone blew up a tree.
Again I say, you folks are real troupers. Had to go out at 6:30 this morning, 43 degrees and thought I was going to freeze. Southern California, we have it so bad, huh? :-)

It could be worse; I don’t live in Texas.

Some of the global warming deniers are coming out from their rocks, having a field day. No use trying to explain to them, they no what they no.

Its -18° this morning along Michigan’s St. Clair River. The coldest temperature I can remember from anywhere I’ve lived!

Predictions are for thousands of InstaGram photos spread across a wide area 200 miles north and south of Interstate-40.

Reminds me of back when I lived in Erie. We could tell it was the first day of Spring because the snow that fell didn’t stick…
