I’ve learned to never, ever ignore an unusual smell. My brain would not have noticed it unless there were a reason. I hate it when my neighbor burns paper, it smells like a burning house.
Oh no kidding — there’s a certain paint smell that takes me back 50+ years to when I went aboard a ship my father was captain on — the smell of fresh paint on the steel in the stairwell was so strong! I still smell that same smell sometimes and it’s like I;m right there aboard that ship again!

Oh I don’t know…some old songs can trigger memories too. Which is why I prefer the ones from before I was born, from which I have none.
