If they can ram through a Supreme Court justice in days, then they can ram through an impeachment in a cut-and-dried case of sedition.

Be careful to take enough time to collect sufficient evidence to get enough Republican senators also wanting to impeach. They already have an additional reason (because impeachment followed by the vote about Trump’s 14th Amendment violation would then bar him from ever being in federal government again, and THAT could allow the Republican Party to move past him and shed the reactionaries which have been parasitizing it). Better grasping the risks they faced and will again face if Trump or others of his ilk again infest any major party, joined with the desire to move on will help get the guilty convictions needed.

Right now, the Republican party has to deny Trump the support of the party in his 2024 bid for the presidency, while still keeping the votes of the MAGAts for the person they do back. His current low 30’s favorable rating is unlikely to improve by that time by enough to make him a viable candidate, so backing him would be a waste of resources. The party itself would be best off if he were impeached, since that prevents him from running for president, and they can blame the few “RINOS” who voted to impeach him.

However, that would require the votes of Republican senators. They are in the same situation. Will they need to keep MAGAt votes to keep their seats? It will depend on how they see the people in their district as trending. Will they wise up by the time the senate seat is up for reelection, or will there still be enough MAGAt votes that a MAGAt candidate will defeat them in a primary. The Republican vote has nothing to do with what is best for the country, never has. It will depend on what the individual senator thinks is best for his reelection chances.

JESUS CHRIST it will be such a relief to see this ignoramus gone on January 20th! And believe me, he’s not doing ANYBODY any favors but not showing up to Joe and Kamala’s inauguration! Let him take his butt to Mar-A-Logo who wherever the hell he wants and get the hell out of everyone’s hair! Because even with the lawsuits and insurrection charges he’s facing, he’s still got a couple of billion dollars in his bank account! And being as clever as he is (the couple of good things I’ll say about him), who wants to bet me that he’ll figure out a way to stay out of prison?
