Papa Baker took a similar route, trading his CPA suit for the more colorful life of a PGA professional. Of course, his only advice to me was (1) don’t go into the military unless you’re an officer, and (2) never play sports professionally. So, I chose the Rat Race. And it returned out pretty darned good. For me.
He is different. He is an enigma, not a puzzle to be solved, but a mystery to be lived. And Mom and Dad have shown that even when mystified, they love him.
Not sure how much “ocean freedom” you can have if you have to stay near the traps close to shore and come up with your day’s haul every day to pay the bills.

Dad makes me think of the crew on the ship in “Captains Courageous”. Proud of what they do. They do it well. And that’s all that matters.

Well, your youngest child is certainly not a member of the human race. We haven’t figured out which race he’s from, though.
