From PoliticoFlorida Governor "DeSantis also took shots at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for its “ridiculous” studies on the Covid-19 outbreak, which he said were more about “affirming” the positions of “bureaucrats” than science.

People can engage in most outdoor activities, including sports, because the virus doesn’t spread at such events, DeSantis told the group. He insisted that Trump’s huge rallies did not contribute to the spread of Covid-19, countering a Stanford University study released in late October that traced 30,000 cases and hundreds of deaths to Trump rallies."

Close to 20,000 people have died in Florida from Covid19 and the cases have gotten out of control and this clown was happy that Biden would have a difficult job doing his best to bring it under control due to opposition from Republicans and Republican judges!

He could not BS his way past the virus spread. He tried and failed, so he ignores it completely. The rant about stolen elections is nothing but a ploy to raise more money.

Isn’t that the chart they used at the beginning.. where if we flattened the curve all would be well. Sadly it didn’t turn out that way.. thanks to a particular genius.

Mr. Bennett, your bell curves will eventually be accurate but right now, they are still trending upwards. Either way, though, you are correct about the Angel of Death planting his flag on the issue.

I figure every COVID death that happened after he announced it was a hoax, encouraged people not to shelter in place and wear masks, did nothing to launch a federal response, and routinely held super-spreader events IS HIS RESPONSIBILITY. And since only one murder, is enough for trial and punishment, justice needs to happen for the tens of thousands of deaths he has caused.

It is invalid to claim that the Trump plague is not his fault. He disbanded the White House team that was designed to contain the disease at it’s source. After that, the virus was totally disinterested in borders, and wandered around as aimlessly, but much more effectively than Trump doesIn December 2014, Obama warned the United States:“There may and likely will come a time in which we have both an airborne disease that is deadly,” Obama said. “And in order for us to deal with that effectively, we have to put in place an infrastructure—not just here at home, but globally—that allows us to see it quickly, isolate it quickly, respond to it quickly, so that if and when a new strain of flu like the Spanish flu crops up five years from now or a decade from now, we’ve made the investment and we’re further along to be able to catch it.”They sat up a White House Pandemic response team, which had clinics worldwide, including the area of China where Covid 19 originated. It managed the Ebola outbreak with only one American death. To help the incoming administration be better prepared to fight future pandemics, officials under President Obama prepared a 69-page playbook, written by Obama’s National Security Council, which detailed strategies for responding to a potential pandemic. Outgoing Obama administration officials briefed Trump’s top aides on the potential dangers of a pandemic. But the Trump administration ignored the playbook Instead, spending weeks downplaying the virus, which they knew about in late December, spouting rampant misinformation and contradicting their own medical and scientific advisors. They wasted nearly two months needed to bolster the federal stockpile of critically needed supplies and equipment. By then, it was too late.

Dealing with the pandemic was way above Trump’s capacity as a human being. He was too busy grifting, tweeting and watching television. Trump’s idea of a president is more along the lines of a Putin or Kim Jong Un.

Recently saw a show about a ferry in Sweden where the chief mate failed to make a course correction, running the ferry aground, resulting in the vessel sinking and the death of 2 people. The crewman received 20 years for negligent homicide. I wouldn’t be as lenient with Trump.

He’s not on his own. He has an army of sycophants in the Republican Party backing him up. Not least the ever present pseudo evangelical Pence who has aided and abetted him. A Republican Senate Leader who could not care less about the number of dead and dying, so long as he continues to wield power over them all. Having a political system that has been allowed (nay, encouraged), to descend into rabid tribalism has not helped either.

Some people would say it’s not all his fault. Let’s figure out it out to be 99.9% his fault and round it up – IT’S ALL HIS FAULT, then – as a leader he did squat.
