The whole “president pardons turkeys” gimmick makes no sense. What are the turkeys supposed to be guilty of? Being edible? So why not pardon hot dogs for the Fourth of July?
Trump “won” in 2016, in part, because of his meme, Make America Great Again. Even if just about everything Trump did was the opposite of MAGA, it was hard to argue with MAGA itself.
I mean, who wouldn’t want to make America great?
Now, hopefully with 2020 hindsight, seeing what Donald did to America, next time a populist comes down the road again, and one will, perhaps the fight-back meme can be:
Make America Damaged Again!
Honestly, if another Trump comes down the road, and I’m sure one will, we will need something to rub his or her nose in from the get go.
Because the next Trump will probably be competent. This Trump was totally incompetent. So much so that he pretty much thwarted more of his own programs than we did. The next populist – and populists tend to be fascists – will likely be far less incompetent – and unpopular (populism begins with being popular).

Endtown and TPO are my two favorite comics, but both suffer a similar problem: Reliability. For Endtown, the issue is often Aaron’s health, while for TPO, it’s that the artist’s “day job” often leaves him insufficient time for this side gig – and we have no idea whether Go Comics pays him or not.
The problem at Endtown is that (one) other than Wednesday, it’s not a given when the strip is going to be out. Sometimes it’s Friday, but sometimes, it’s Sunday. If it’s Sunday, then there’s no Monday. And so on.
Most of all (two) Aaron is very consistent in that, if a cartoon is released, it will be back-dated. Zum Beispiel: This week’s Wednesday cartoon didn’t “drop” until Thursday. Hence, Endtown never shows as “updated today.”
At TPO, Brian might go months at a time without an update – his last effort was the day before Thanksgiving. And yet, when he does produce, it is a daily cartoon. The floodgates are open or it’s a drought.
I’m pretty sure this little rant isn’t going to solve anything. But I do wonder whether I’m alone in this feeling:
For our favorite cartoons, we need to check once a week and that’s about it?
20-Dec-20: Brian: Perhaps if you went with a weekly cartoon, it wouldn’t be so hard to maintain. Clearly, whatever you are doing makes a daily cartoon beyond your expectations.
I think we could handle TPO if it were a weekly strip. And maybe you could, too.

There is something wrong with anyone who thinks that the president ought to have the power to pardon himself.

Do only birdbrains think that there’s NOT something “fowl” about pardoning one’s self?

And The Tangerine Turkey STILL thinks that he won. What a featherhead…

I think Trump should be able to pardon himself…On condition that he enumerates exactly what he is pardoning himself for.

We need to be preparing for that inevitability.
Now.

Still the same turkeys. It’s amazing how this strip mirrors reality.
