Still barely afloat and the sails are on the wrong side of the masts. Who is in command?

    Old Ironsides

    BY OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES SR.

Ay, tear her tattered ensign down!

Long has it waved on high,

And many an eye has danced to see

    That banner in the sky;

Beneath it rung the battle shout,

    And burst the cannon’s roar;—

The meteor of the ocean air

Shall sweep the clouds no more!

The integrity of our entire history is in jeopardy… if the dRumpth manages to steal this election, he will have all of the history books re-written he will have all of the science books burned, the only news outlets will become state disinformation propaganda churning machines.

One candidate wants to unify Americans, the other to divide them.

    Thou too, sail on,

    O ship of state,

    Sail on, O union,

    Strong and great. – Longfellow

    (Ahem)

    We’ll need to change,

    The words a bit,

    ‘Cause “union” now’s,

Not worth a chit. – Me

She is a tattered old girl, but still afloat…. May fair winds and following seas once again be her lot….

I do like Matt Davies’ as a cartoonist, but I do wish he actually knew more about his subject matter.

I do believe that Matt is suggesting that the “sails” of the “ship of state” will be stitched together out of both the “red” and “blue” factions, and that the “ship” will continue to sail.

This is a rather optimistic view of America. I don’t think those sails have actually been sewn together since 2010.

Except the red and blue sails are separate & trying to take the ship in opposite directions.
