I sometimes use an Irish Boilermaker as a “pin reliever”, a mug of Guinness with a shot of Irish whiskey in it. A couple of those and no pain, or other sensations.
Too soon. My elderly mother surprised me by telling a story from her youth. At the age of twelve, she decided to make a “Molotov cocktail”, light it and throw it into the street. She was, of course, severely punished. For years, her father cursed every time the family car bumped over the hole it had burned into the pavement.
