As the electorate becomes less religious — e.g. the growth of the nones — the Supreme Court heads in the opposite direction.

Are you absolutely positive that our dysfunction opposing party political system is correctly representing the people in our constitutional democratic republic?

Il Douche knows that he won’t be around forever to cause Americans to riot in the streets for the sake of justice and civil rights. So he wants to appoint one last judge to the SCOTUS who will fight the bad fight against women’s rights.

Amy Coney Barrett belongs to “People of Praise,” a religious cult (an extremist fringe element within Catholicism, which also includes fundamentalists of other “Christian” denominations) that believes husbands should dictate how their wives vote. Within the group, she also attained the highest level available to women (leadership roles are strictly MEN ONLY): HANDMAID. This is not satire. This is not a play on Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale.” She literally, proudly, anointed herself a HANDMAID.

No one who believes that a husband should dictate how his wife votes, or that a woman’s rights should be subject to the “authority” of her husband, should be in a position to make decisions about anyone else’s rights.

Barrett’s husband, Jesse Barrett, is also a high-profile lawyer (they met at Notre Dame Law School, a Catholic university). He was the Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana.

If Ms Coney Barrett really believes the things she has said and written about women being subservient to their husbands, and letting their husbands dictate their votes, does that mean her husband will also dictate her Supreme Court rulings?

Does that really count as nominating a woman, or just another Trump lie?

I do believe she’ll do her best if given the job (and I do believe she will be given it). But I also believe that her best would be sadly wrong for our country… or worse.

For once, I’m glad I’m no longer a young woman. Bad times ahead, I’m afraid.

Prior to Roe, entire wings of hospitals were reserved for women with complications from self-induced or back-alley abortions. Making abortion illegal doesn’t make it stop, it just makes it very dangerous.

She said that ‘she would put away her religious convictions.’ At least until after she is confirmed.

Even ignoring her personal beliefs – which is VERY DIFFICULT – she refused to say whether refusing to leave the White House is a crime. Kick her out.

I am troubled by Barrett’s nomination, but not predisposed to opposing it. there are legitimate concerns about her ideology that need addressed that have nothing to do with Catholicism or even religion in general. Exactly what did she mean when she stated “always keep in mind that your legal career is but a means to an end,” [and] “that end is building the kingdom of God,”. As I’ve commented before, it could be just an innocent expression of faith, delivered at a Catholic university. It is a sign of out times that the hearings will be filled with angry rhetoric instead of honest appraisal.

This information needs to be churned out by the dnc right now as if a it regarded a high stakes election (not at joe’s expense). Most moderates/ independents do not know this!

Another prize-winner, Mr. Bennett. We all know she was selected to be a ringer so nothing she says in the hearings matters. Once installed she will gainsay anything she has said and will protect Trump.

    I can’t help myself. . .

Trust in my judgment of the book. Besides, you’re gonna hang no matter what it says in there, ’cause I am the law, and the law is the handmaiden of justice. Get a rope.

I think the Supreme Court should take a vow of poverty or at least have a detailed audit of their finances including any offshore accounts.

Remember the Supremes “awarding” the presidency to Larry (“Is our children learning?”) The Cable Guy when they had no more jurisdiction or authority to do so than a traffic cop in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey (pop. 4078)? They’re poised to do so again; that’s why Judge Can’t Say No In the Night is going to be confirmed by 3 PM this week.

The Democratic eunuchs will let them get away with it because, they, too, cannot say “No” to totalitarian Fascism.

How many Americans will meekly submit to a theocratic Supreme Court? How many will simply reject its rulings as lllegitimate? Enough of the latter, and the 3rd leg of American government will fall.

On the base of the statue isn’t there usually something in Latin ? Back in the area where I lived was a large two story Masonic Lodge that had a cornerstone that read “Laid By The Masons in 1928” (don’t remember the actual year) the local boys would have their girlfriend stand near the cornerstone and take their picture for laughs since the girl didn’t know why the boyfriend was smiling. The cornerstone was probably was the only thing that got laid.

Barrett lied under while oath yesterday. When questioned for a position on the Federal Bench in 2017 she answered then Senator Franken that she was aware of a group’s efforts to criminalize homosexuality that she had spoke to and was paid for before her talk was made. Yesterday Senator Leahy asked the same question and Barrett denied knowing at all. It’s all on tape. Barrett lied while under oath.

    OFF-TOPIC

FUN FACT: How many times has Trump played golf during the pandemic?

I will consider 01/31/2020 to be the start of the pandemic because on that date the Trump administration declared a public health emergency in the United States because of the coronavirus. He played golf on 02/01/2020 for the 114th time during his administration. The golf course was Trump International in Florida. The most recent golf outing was on 09/27/2020 for the 140th time during his administration. The golf course was Trump National in Virginia. Mr. Trump has played golf 26 times during the pandemic. During that same time period, Mr. Trump has visited his golf clubs 35 times.

I have learned a lot by watching the confirmation hearings of all three nominees over the past four years, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to witness them. I think that I, along with many others, had a rude awakening after the 2016 election. I admit that prior to then, I knew more names of staff members in Josiah Bartlet’s White House on “The West Wing” than the actual White House. I’ve been playing catch up since then. Barrett’s unwillingness to admit her bias is telling, because she knows she is in the minority.
