    Two comments about the predictability of Halley’s Comet: Although Halley saw the comet in 1682, and opined it was the same comet seen in 1531 and 1607, he died before the comet’s return in 1758, which he had predicted. Mark Twain, on the other hand, was born in 1835, and died in 1910, both years in which the comet paid its periodic visit to our neck of the solar system. He had predicted he would die during the comet’s return.
