6 Million cases and 184,000 deaths and climbing. If you look at the averaged number of cases in the United States you see two large humps and the beginning of a third. More than 100 cases have been linked to the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally. Trump is now holding rallies with no safety protocol being observed by the attendees. And Steve Kelley is complaining about a teachers risking their life and wearing masks.

    Two thoughts:

1: Most  (not all) kids can hear just fine without reading lips. Kelley may be old enough to have the problem and perhaps not quite realize it. Or, of course, he could be shuckin’ and jivin’.

2: A friend has a very fine and effective mask. And a little mic like they have for gamer headphones inside her mask, and a small (not tiny) speaker mounted on a belt w/ a good sized battery. It is… odd… to hear her speaking from her belly. But easy to understand.

I am not sure what Kelley is saying here. Is he giving a reason for education to be done online and not in person? Because masks are a necessity when there are 25 kids and an adult or two in a classroom.

Kelley must have taken the day off and let Payne do his comic today.

If that kid just got home from School, he is more than likely carrying lots of Covid-19 virus all over his body, clothes, and backpack. He may show not symptoms but will spread the virus. He will infect his Mother, Father, and any other folks in the house. Guess his Teacher wasn’t allowed to “teach” him that. I wonder if Steve Kelly is willing to admit that this is the case will all kids attending virus laden Class rooms and schools? Probably not, as Steve’s Hero tells him that Covid-19 is “fake news” or a “Democrat Hoax”. If Hero #1 does believe that, why is he tested for that “fake” virus multiple times a day?

The kid can’t make any sense of what Trump says and he DOESN’T wear a mask.

Since when did Kelly and his cult members want to know about math, science and history? They’ve been working hard to ignore them!

Math science and history are liberal arts propaganda, according to the anti science anti reality covid spreading republicans.

He will live to learn another day, or Mom will, or GrandDad or you.

Steve, that’s a fake issue, in my experience.

For most (maybe all?) of my life, I’ve had difficulty understanding speech in spite of my hearing being very sensitive to isolated sounds, and yet I’ve had no additional difficulty understanding individuals speaking though a mask.

As a teacher, the first thing I bought for school this year was a portable mic. Cheap, easy to use, and the kids hear me fine!

Competent federal leadership through this crisis could have avoided this situation.
