    A well deserved Reuben.

We have our own Joe’s, a small vegetable farm that has since become surrounded by city, but still remains a farm that sells the best produce. Sadly Joe has long passed away, but the farm continues.

Sure, give the guy a prestigious award, and first thing you know he’s coasting on reruns.

But CONGRATULATIONS, Richard! The Rueben couldn’t have gone to a more deserving recipient.

It’s bittersweet, though. Now I’ve got a pocketful of mulch, and nobody to throw it at.

    A triple negative?!

    “Yes!!!

That calls for extra sauerkraut on your Reuben, RT!

And don’t skimp on the mustard; you deserve it!!!

Isn’t this a rerun? They give the Reuben to a guy who recycles his work? Charles Schulz’s strips were never rerun until he was in the cold, cold ground.

But seriously, congratulations and well deserved—for your ORIGINAL work.

Ha ha, this is a favorite strip of much-loved Cul de Sac. This one’s so multi-facetedly, mind-bogglingly funny on so many levels that I will now skid right off any one of ‘em from laughing. I love the Devil’s short-sleeved shirt and tie and and the seller’s hirsute and hollow-chested sidekick; the hopeless search under such a moonlit, starry sky! And the satisfaction on the beaming faces of the entire Otterloop family.

Enough. I am utterly thrilled that Richard won the Reuben Award for 2011! What an honor, and what an award!
