    Sold by mistake?

In the business of crime, mistakes are often only made once since the penalty for such errors involves fatal punishments.

    Good morning™, real estate tycoons!

Do not deal with Alex Wilson. I wonder if Coney bought several warehouses. Wilson refers to “that warehouse” though I expect that he knows Coney’s plans and the fact that this is the specific warehouse Coney needs.

… and it’s confirmed today that Ms. Trellis is really not open to property negotiators. Someone was saying the other day was pointing out how tenacious she is.

I notice that you can see very clearly today how cone-shaped Coney is below the waist. His silhouette almost comes to a point at the top of his shoes.

From Alex Wilson’s comments, it appears our presumption that the city didn’t sell Stooge Villar’s “bank” to Fastrack. But I still bet that before Fastrack put their name on the dotted line, thee was an agreement in place for that warehouse to be in a TIF zone.

so he has a deed but it’s not viable, not a fraud, but him telling people it is when he knows it isn’t adds Making a false statement to a police officer to his offences. so far misdemeanors but they’re stacking up.

So now, if in fact this was a legitimate mistake (although a huge mistake, to be sure) then why is Coney risking police involvement by having Howdy shoot at a representative of the new “owner”? All that does is draw attention to him and his doings at the warehouse. He should just sit tight while the deal is hashed out in the courts, which should give him plenty of time to find the treasure, if there is one.

1-FAT ARCHIE: YOU’RE USELESS AS MY AGENT-SLASH-ACCOUNTANT! I get no royalty checks AND you didn’t get me that role I was born to play!

2-BOSS: Which one is it now? Big Boy? Pillsbury Dough Boy? Stay-Puffed Marshmallow Boy?

FAT ARCHIE: NO YOU DOLT. RIVERDALE! Have you seen it? Grrrr-rowllllll! Betty and Veronica were never so ‘friendly’ in the comic books. I could a been the meat in that sandwich if you’d a done your job!

BOSS: The viewing public would’ve dropped that sandwich faster than Stormy D drops underwear. Faster than Anthony W drops trou. Faster than yo mama drops babies on their heads – apparently.

    FAT ARCHIE: Huh?

Personally I’m wondering if Coney’s mass consumption of sweets will get to him before Dick Tracy does

I’m still reading between the lines on this one, but today’s developments make me want to double down on the notion these two guy are related. Jonahhex1 surmised yesterday they were related and I was thinking it might be similar to brothers Chuck and Jimmy McGill from Better Call Saul. Neil noted the age difference to maybe Coney is the ne’er do well nephew?

Either way, I read today’s events as Alex patronizing Coney, talking with him as if he were a child.

By my reckoning, the warehouse was never legally Coney’s and selling it wasn’t a “mistake.” Back when Wilson Properties deemed their warehouse as unsellable, Alex indulged Coney by telling him it was his to essentially play with like an adult-sized tree fort. But then the area was targeted for redevelopment and Wilson pounced at the chance to rid it from his portfolio at a profit. The “mistake sale” was the white lie excuse told to Coney as an easy way to avoid the uncomfortable truth the warehouse was never really his. Alex didn’t know about the “treasure” or the lengths Coney and his crew would go to in order to keep searching for it.

A real Real Estate mistake! This, of course, means that technically Coney and his team do not own the warehouse even if Coney once legitimately thought he did (but since Mr. Wilson has already told him it was sold to Ms. Trellis and Fastrack Inc., that should be “ancient history” by now). BTW, in silhouette, Coney resembles an ice cream cone even more than otherwise (panel 2)….
