    Deserves the Golden Shovel Award!

Spouse told me this once. A Professor in collage had many unusual ways to announce grades. Mostly in how he returned papers to the students. “A” would be handed above the head. “B” was about nose level. “C” would get flopped on the desk. “D” would be slipped back to the student below the desk. Anyone foolish enough to ask about a “F” would be given a map as to the location the campus had a compost heap. But… every once in a great while… someone would write a paper so outrageous that it got a Special Award… for the amount of… erm… ahm… fertilizer it was packed with! (Smirk!)

Hey, roto-tillers took a little technique to learn. If one wasn’t careful, they’d just walk. And you couldn’t till anything. Even just walking them to the garden took some practice.

State sponsored Urban Development. Broke up a lot of good farm land, forests, and scenic wilderness.

Though derivative, the gas and steam powered tractor, pulling the plow, broke more ground. So much so they contributed to the dust bowl in the 30’s.

Don’t knock agricultural advances. They probably have more influence on people’s health and well being than any other inventions. So, aside from the joke, the answer may be better than most you might come up with.
