Yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of my husband’s passing. This comic was the first I opened this morning. I know he took the scenic route, thank you, Matt!
“In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so, it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night.” The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
The scenic route! That’s what I hope my late best bud / partner-in-crime / roommate PJ is doing, zooming around the universe with his brother & all the cats & dogs they’ve loved!
I love reading this comic. But this one really hit home. My little Vlad (b/w in the picture) has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. The vet thinks it’s one of two. I’ve done a little bit of reading on both. I think it’s the more rare one that he has. He’s on steroids and heart meds and, for now acting like his old self. And that’s my wish for him, to go when he’s fallen asleep and not wake up. I know he’ll be greeted by my other animals that have gone before. But this one……………….
If The Rainbow Bridge does exist I’ll be greeted by many dogs and cats I’ve loved over the years. They might be greater in number than my human family that I hope to see again as well.

Death sometimes comes as a release; when it does, it is welcome.

Death is no longer there in the 7th panel. The journey to the heavens is complete. Great art in those last scenes.
