After seeing a news article about people getting covid at a birthday party and the grandparents dying, I cancelled out on a friend’s July 4th party. They don’t believe in covid.
Here in AZ Gov. Doug Ducey is defending indoor political rallies of thousands of people without masks, even as he said the only way Arizona will stop the upward trend of infections is if people mask up and stay home. AZ is leading all states in spike to the most cases of Covid-19. This 84 year old primary care taker of my wife is terrified beyond terror. We may not live to even vote in November!
The problem with the Covid-19 virus is that it didn’t read the guidelines for reopening. It’s not playing by Trump’s rules. It’s playing by Mother Nature’s rules.
Let’s look at the numbers. In May, both the United States and the European Union peaked with about 30,000 new infections per day.
Since then the EU has steadily declined and has leveled off at 4,000 cases per day for the past several weeks.
The United States, under Trump’s “enormously great” leadership is still holding at around the 30,000 infections per day level. That’s 7 to 8 times the EU rate.
Call it fake news if you want. I call it solid math and science . I also call it damning evidence on how much the Federal Government, under Trump, has failed its citizens.
Or maybe it’s the citizens failing ourselves: enough of us listened to Trump and followed his example and see where it has led us.
And today Buttercup announced an attempt to cancel current health care plans. Might not contribute directly to more CV-19 cases, but will certainly contribute to the numbers of people who will no longer be able to defend themselves against it for lack of medical care along with their incomes and homes.

And I’ll bet nobody in government has even considered the possibility that someone could submit a mail-in ballot and then die before election day.
But once the votes are counted, I’ll bet some will make that claim in an attempt to invalidate votes, even though there’s no legal way to match individual votes to individual voters.

It’s so “remarkable” that our infection rate is 8 times that of the European Union. In fact, Americans are now banned from going to the EU because we are “disease ridden” (can you say MAGA?).

Follow the spikes and then back off two weeks – Memorial Day and the various “re-openings.”
While there may be some truth to warm weather and sunshine diminishing the potency of the virus, those “rules” don’t apply indoors.
The good news is that the virus has not mutated. The bad news is the virus has not mutated; it is every bit as infectious as ever. It doesn’t care that everyone is sick and tired dealing with it.
The virus is an atheist: it does not know that it is one of God’s creatures but it will act like one.
The virus is apolitical: it doesn’t care what political party you belong to.
The virus is non-racist: it seems to affect the poor more than the rich, but since poverty follows racial lines a disproportionate number of minorities are affected.
The virus does discriminate on age: older people are more likely to suffer greater effects from the disease, however the “wisdom of age” (in other words, us old farts are smart enough to stay at home when we can, practice social distancing and wear masks), keeps the numbers down.
The virus will do what it will do regardless of what we want it to do. It is a force of nature, like gravity. If I get sick and tired of holding something and I let go, it WILL fall.
