Elderpark is commemorating the 61st anniversary of D-Day today. Boy: What's that? The General: The beginning of the liberation of Europe in 1944...a great event in history. Boy: Is there a video game about it? The General: Pipe down and salute. The flag's going up.

Well, it’s not D-Day, but interesting that the comic ran on another important anniversary, Pearl Harbor. My father told me that when the news came on the radio, everyone had two reactions: One, “Wow I guess we really are actually going to war” and two – “Where the hell is Pearl Harbor?”

Little out of sync with the current date but still appropriate on THE DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY. We salute those who served, fought and died to protect our freedoms.

My bro-in-law was a kid growing up in Honolulu on this day in history. My neighbor was a cook on one of the ships that survived. Both said it was scary but exciting. ♫War, huh, good God y’all!♫
